From 2010 to 2018 she studied at the University of the Arts Utrecht in the young talent class (Academie Muzikaal Talent) with Liesbeth Ackermans en Chris Duindam. At the age of 17, Vera moved to London to start her studies at the Royal College of Music. During her undergraduate studies she learnt with Daniel Rowland, Gaby Lester and Alina Ibragimova. Her studies were generously supported by an RCM scholarship as well as the VanDenEnde Foundation. In 2022, she graduated with First Class Honours.
Currently, she is studying for her Masters degree at the Royal College of Music with Gaby Lester. For this she has also received a scholarship from the RCM as well as Prins Bernhard Foundation.
From 2016-2018 Vera lead the Netherlands Youth String Orchestra (NJSO), which sparked her love for orchestral playing. During her undergraduate at the College, she had many opportunities to develop this further. She has lead, co-lead and been principal second violin of the RCM Symphony Orchestra. For two years, she was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, sitting as no. 3 of the first violins during both tours.
Last year, she was chosen as first violin for the English National Opera Evolve scheme. Now, she is doing the London Philharmonic Orchestra Foyle Future First scheme. She is also on trial with the LPO for the position of sub-principal 2nd violin. Furthermore, she enjoys playing on a freelance basis with orchestras like the BBC Philharmonic.
Vera is a passionate chamber musician. As a young teenager she was part of a string quartet that was coached for years by Alexander Pavlovsky (Jerusalem Quartet), as well as having had many coachings with members from the Borodin, Pavel Haas, and Emerson quartets amongst others. During her undergraduate degree she was part of a string quartet with whom she won the Royal College of Music String quartet competition in 2020. Currently she performs with her piano trio, the Daphne trio. Since 2021, she has taken part in IMS Prussia Cove in the summer.
As a soloist, she played with several orchestras from the age of 11, including Netherlands Youth String Orchestra, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic and Philips orkest.
